Hunter S. Thompson, the pioneer of Gonzo journalism, took his own life on February 20, 2005. Before he passed away, the journalist led a widely interesting life with many wise words we can learn from.

Hunter S. Thompson brought the idea of Gonzo journalism to the wider public. This is a form of journalism where rather than witnessing other individuals going through experiences, the journalist themselves take the part of the central character, reporting their story in first-person.

Thompson is most well-known for his novel "Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas" which was adapted into a film in 1998 starring Johnny Depp and Benicio del Toro. Thompson's funeral was just as breathtaking as his life, as a cannon blew his ashes out at his home in Colorado. Guests in attendance included Bill Murray, Jack Nicholson, and Johnny Depp, among others.

Of course, he had to have one last say before he passed away with his very last words partially stating, "No More Games. No More Bombs. No More Walking. No More Fun."
