I spent so much time chasing him that the remainder of my funds went to investigators and lawyers' fees that I ended up with nothing."

"During the day, I offer plumbing and repair services to people on the street. Of course, not many people put their trust in me, so I still have to beg on the streets so I have something to eat," he admitted. "My name is Julian. Thank you for taking the time to listen to my story," he told Lois.

"My name is Lois. Would you like to come with me? I can cook you a homemade dinner. I also have an extra bedroom where you can stay so you don't have to be out here," she offered.

Although he was shy, Julian accepted Lois' offer. After all, it had been a while since he's tasted a home-cooked meal, and it was something he longed for.

When they got home, Lois gave Julian some clothes from Ben's closet. "Feel free to freshen up in the guest bathroom. I'll be in the kitchen preparing dinner," she told him as she led him to where he could get dressed.

Ben arrived home by the time Lois and Julian were having dinner, and he was furious when he realized the man was wearing his clothes. "Lois. What is this? WHO is this? Why is he in our house, and why is he wearing my clothes?!" he yelled.

Lois looked at Julian, who was startled at Ben's sudden outburst. "Let's talk in the living room," she told her husband. She and Ben walked out of the kitchen, and Lois explained Julian's situation.

"He's a smart man who was scammed by a bad business deal. He's been out on the streets for I don't know how long. I just wanted to do something nice for him because I can," she told Ben.

"He's a stranger, for god's sake! How can you let a random man into our home? He could be a criminal for all we know," he spat back.

Lois tried to calm Ben down, but he wouldn't listen to anything she said. He slammed the door out of the living room and locked himself in his game room.

The following day, Lois did her usual routine of yoga in her home gym and breakfast after. As she was heading downstairs, Ben was standing at the foot of the stairs, furious.

"What's wrong?" she asked him.

"Are you happy now?! This is all your fault!" he yelled and Lois was confused.

Lois couldn't believe what she was hearing and decided to check the safe herself. It was opened, and all of the jewelry boxes were empty. "How did he even open it?" she thought to herself. The safe had a unique code that only she and Ben knew about.

Nonetheless, Lois believed Ben and started to blame herself for trusting a stranger. She felt horrible for losing valuable jewelry, but what bothered her more was how she quickly trusted a stranger who turned out to be a bad man.

Ben and Lois' relationship slowly started to deteriorate since then. Ben no longer trusted Lois, and he started leaving the house more. Ultimately, what Lois was afraid of finally came – Ben mailed divorce papers to their home and wrote that he wasn't returning.

Julian nodded his head, realizing what Lois was accusing him of. "Is that what you're accusing me of? I'm sorry you think that way. When you went back to your room that night, Ben kicked me out and said he couldn't let me use the room."

Julian paused before speaking up again. "I don't want to ruin your relationship with your husband, but he was carrying a thin bag that looked heavy that night," he admitted.
