William Munny once lived a dangerous life as a violent gunslinger. Years after turning away from that life, the former outlaw stepped inside its territories again after being assigned a mission. Munny must punish the perpetrators who inhumanely tortured Delilah Fitzgerald.

However, injustice prevails in the town of Big Whiskey, making it all the more difficult for Munny to seek retribution. Still, he takes on the task along with his former partner, Ned Logan, and inexperienced shooter, the Schofield Kid.

Munny drops lines about justice and courage throughout the film, which he shares with his targets and friends. He also faces several opportunities for him to reflect on his life.
