The journey of Frodo and Sam to Mordor connected so much with audiences that they truly felt the same emotions when they fought or got hurt, or felt betrayed. It was more relatable than any fantasy story should be, and that's why this franchise has always been so amazing.

People celebrated when they managed to destroy the ring, and Aragorn, as the new king, vowed to the four brave Hobbits. Everyone was also happy to see Sam finally approach the girl of his dreams, Rosie Cotton, and make a family, but his loyalty to Frodo remained unchanging.

When the main Hobbit decided to leave for the Undying lands, Sam wanted to go, and according to the lore, he would've been entitled to do it. However, he wasn't ready to leave Middle Earth just yet. Let's read the best 25 Sam Gamgee quotes.

Although the films never showed it, Samwise did actually go to the Undying Lands later. Before that, he and Rosie had 13 kids. He was also the mayor of the Shire for 49 years. Tolkien never revealed who took his place afterward.

In the films, Samwise is played by actor Sean Astin, who's known for other roles in "Stranger Things" and "Goonies." He married Christine Harrell in 1992, and they have three children together. His on-screen co-star, Elijah Wood, was a child actor, too, but he has a brother who has also been in movies.
